Raider Band Weekly Update Jan 28 - Feb 1

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Things are busy as usual! Thanks to all the students who joined us last week for “Winter Olympics”, thank you drumline for performing in the Round Rock MLK parade last weekend, good luck to our Winter Guard as they perform in their first contest this weekend, “have fun” to our members of the All Region bands as they rehearse today and tomorrow for their performances tomorrow night, we’ve sold over 600 bags of mulch and will be taking orders for about another month (please still get the word out!), and we’re less than two weeks away from our first concert of 2019! Phew!

Student Teacher

If you see a new face around the band hall, we’re excited to have Ms. Iliana Reyna help us this semester. She’s a student teacher from the University of Texas at Austin and her primary instrument is french horn!

Band Booster Positions

Just a reminder that the time is “very soon” for us to be ready for next year with the band booster positions. In addition to other positions that are available, the current president will be “graduating out” and the treasurer has met her two-year-maximum for that role per the bylaws. These two positions are required in order to have a booster organization. I’m excited to have new ideas and fresh eyes as we move in to the future together! Please be on the lookout for communication from the boosters regarding a nomination committee and other information about the process to become elected to the executive board. Thank you!

Band Fee Payments

We emailed out your current statements a few days ago - all outstanding band fees are two months past due and outstanding balances have been added to the “Obligation List” with the high school. Please let me know if you need help finding what you may owe. Band fee payments can be made online at http://crhsraiderband.org/new-products/band-fees-not-booster or by check to “CRHS Band” and put in the safe next to my office. Thank you!

Varsity Winterguard Contest - Saturday January 26th @ Westwood HS

Winterguard competes in their first contest! Their performance time is 3:22pm if you’d like to attend!

Region Band Clinics and Concert - Friday January 25th & Saturday January 26th @ Weiss HS

Students who competed in the All-Region process and made the band will participate in rehearsals and concerts. Their schedule was included in the music folder they received from the clinic hosts.

Mulch! : 600+ bags sold so far, but a LONG way to go til our goal! Taking orders until 2/22!

The goal of this fundraiser is to have the greater-CRHS-community make these purchases (if they’re gonna buy it anyway, why not from us, and we’ll deliver!). The main trick is getting the word out. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated - social media HOA/neighborhood webpages, etc - please help spread the word!

San Fran Trip Reminders

Final payment is next month - please make sure your trip payment account is up to date! Make payments through the company webpage, https://www.etadventures.com/ Again, please remember, students must be academically eligible to go on the trip.

Raider Band Weekly Update Jan 21 - Jan 25

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Congratulations to our three band students who have auditioned to become members of the Texas All State Band! This accomplishment places them among the top one percent of all band students in the state of Texas! Our All State band members are Senior Rachael Bradfield on French Horn, Senior Stephanie Kim on Flute, and Sophomore Ralph Lewis on Percussion. Outstanding work!

Lots going on, and our first concert on Thursday February 7th is now less than three weeks away! Woohoo!

Band Booster Positions

As I mentioned in some of my emails last semester, we’re looking for new leadership with our band booster organization. The current president will be “graduating out” and the treasurer has met her two-year-maximum for that role per the bylaws. These two positions are required in order to have a booster organization. There are a few other positions that will be available as well. I’m excited to have new ideas and fresh eyes as we move in to the future together! Please be on the lookout for communication from the boosters regarding a nomination committee and other information about the process to become elected to the executive board. Thank you!

Mulch!

The goal of this fundraiser is NOT to have you, our band families, feel “obligated” to buy supplies for your landscaping (if you’re going to buy it anyway and would like to get it from us, then that’d be great!).

Raider Band Weekly Update Jan 14 - Jan 18

Raider Band Students and Parents,

We’ve had a good first week back to school and it’s been fun listening to the students create their first ensemble sounds together in the classrooms!

Best of luck to our eight students who will be competing to become members of the Texas All-State Band as they audition tomorrow at Duncanville High School in the south Dallas area!

Mulch Fundraiser - orders have started coming in!

As you’ve seen, the boosters are working on taking orders for this year’s fundraiser. Our goal is to have the greater CRHS community help support the band program through this fundraiser. Anything you can do to get the word out or put the flyer in different places would be very helpful! Neighborhood Facebook Pages, HOAs, mail boxes, coffee shops - the fact of the matter is that just posting the flyer to the band Facebook page isn’t going to be enough to make this event successful. I've attached the most recent/updated flyer to this email.

Depending on how many orders are made, and deliveries we need to make, we may need to ask for help from anyone who owns a pickup truck to help with deliveries, in addition to the box trucks we already plan on renting (I’m going to borrow my Dad’s truck so I can help, too!) Delivery date is Saturday March 2nd.

Making all of these fundraising efforts successful takes work from all of us. The money raised in the Spring pays for so many things throughout the year including, marching competitions, support staff, transportation, winter guard activities, equipment purchases, scholarships and much much more. For 2019 to be successful, we need your help. Please help by contributing your time and support these efforts.

Band Fee Payments

This student-led event is similar to the outdoor event during Summer Band, but indoors! Students will compete in sections and this event will also include our 7th and 8th grade band students as well. Student leadership should have already communicated to the students about bringing food, etc.

Region Band Clinics and Concert - Friday January 25th & Saturday January 26th @ Weiss HS

Students who competed in the All-Region process and made the band will participate in rehearsals and concerts. Their schedule was included in the music folder they received from the clinic hosts. Please plan transportation and meals accordingly on your own.

Raider Band Weekly Update Jan 7 - Jan 11

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Welcome to 2019! Seniors, can you believe it? You’re just months away from being DONE with high school! We hope everyone was able to enjoy some time off and get recharged.

I wanted to send out an email to begin the week to make sure you’re aware of a few items as we start the new semester:

San Fran Trip Reminder

If you’re attending the trip, remember: you MUST be academically eligible in order to go on the trip. In other words, you MUST pass the 4th six weeks in order to go with us. Per district and TEA policies, you will not be able to attend if you lose eligibility, and you’ll likely be unable to receive a refund from the travel company!

Mulch Fundraiser!

Our new booster fundraiser effort is selling black mulch. This has been a very, very successful fundraiser for other band programs in our district. Your child will bring home 20+ flyers. This event will not be successful if we only post it on Facebook. We need your help getting the word out to the whole community. This fundraiser has the potential to make up for the lost income of TMC, etc. - please help us push this information! I’m attaching a flyer to this email as well.  http://crhsraiderband.org/mulch/

Band Winter Olympics - Friday January 18th

We’re holding a social event for our current 9th-12th grade band students and 7th-8th graders on Friday January 18th from 6pm-10pm at CRHS. This will be similar to Band Olympics from August, but everything will be indoors! Students/Sections bring food and come ready to compete!

Raider Band Weekly Update Nov 19 - Nov 30

Raider Band Students and Parents,

What a well-earned Thanksgiving Break! Safe travels and best wishes to all of you as we head into the holidays!

Here come playoffs! We’re excited to cheer on our fellow Raiders as we take on Langham Creek tonight!

Just because we’re done with our competitive marching season doesn’t mean there’s nothing happening - check it out!:

Concert Tuxes and Dresses

Please keep these concert uniforms at home. Do NOT wash tux coats, tux pants, or dresses! Also, all temporary alterations need to be made in time for the holiday concert on Thursday 12/13. Thank you!

Spring 2019 Auditions, Percussion Tuesday 11/27, Brass/WW: Thursday 11/29 and Friday 11/30

All woodwind and brass students received audition materials last week. Part of the audition packet was a general overview, explanation, and information sheet in regards to the different bands and audition process. I’m attaching that information sheet to this email as well for your general knowledge.

Region Band Auditions

We’ve been enrolling students who wish to audition for region band the past few days during class. Entry fee is $20, made out to CRHS Band or cash, due Friday 11/30 to band safe in the band hall. Region Auditions are at CRHS on Friday 12/7 and Saturday 12/8.

Raider Band Holiday Concert, Thursday December 13th, CRHS Auditorium

It’s been on the band calendar, but just in case you didn’t already know, please be sure to mark your calendars.

Coupon Book Fundraiser

Students received ‘demo books’ on Thursday. These books are to be used to show to potential buyers - do not sell the demo books please. I’m asking each student to have a goal of selling at least five books. Any checks should be made out to CRHS Band. This fundraiser benefits the entire band, not individual Charms accounts. Students are able to earn a free book for every five sold, as well as a Tshirt, Long-Sleeve shirt, or Hoodie, depending on the number of books they sell. Order forms are due back by Friday 11/30. I’m attaching an info sheet to this email as well.

Raider Band Weekly Update Nov 12 - Nov 16

....Where do I even begin?...

...if you had told me last May that I would have the incredible honor of working with a special group of students, parents, and staff members -

- with a band that would go on third at Area at 9am, after a 4:45am call time, in San Antonio, and still perform at a level that would survive 29 more bands and place them 4th in prelims, making finals -

- and then go on to qualify for State -

- and then would WORK HARD, together, to learn the last minute and a half of their marching show to a level of competitiveness within a week’s time that would place them in the TOP TEN, out of 84 bands, of the BOA San Antonio Super Regional Championships, with a score of 90.40 -

- and then would go on fourth at State at 9:15am, after a 4:45am call time, in the Alamodome, and yet again perform at a level that would survive 37 more of the best bands in America and place them 11th in prelims… making finals -

- and would become recognized as the 11th best 6A marching band in the State of Texas -

...I probably would have laughed at you.

But... it happened. I’m beyond floored.

The numbers don’t define who we are as individuals or as a group, but are a recognition of the work, dedication, attention to detail, planning, and team effort we all put forth, together, students, parents, volunteers, and staff.

Thank you for letting me be part of these incredible memories we’ve shared.

Thank you, parents, for sharing your children and their talents with us!

All Band Fees Due Monday 11/12

The final payment of the 2018-2019 Band fees is Monday (if you were/are following the payment plan).

ATTENTION - Next Week’s Game Day Meal

Booster meal monies do not cover playoff games. If you wish to have a meal fed to you by the Boosters for our first playoff game, please fill out the attached form (hard-copies also available in band hall) and turn in your money to the band safe by Wednesday 11/14 at 12:00pm. If you do not use this option for a meal, you will need to bring your own dinner to school, or have one delivered to you, on Friday 11/16.

Coupon Book Fundraiser

We’re rather behind in our fundraising efforts this year compared to last year, mainly due to concession stand income (rained-out games) and fewer bands at TMC. Next week, the students will be asked to sell as many coupon books as possible. I will send out more information next week.

The band participates in football playoff games. We will not know the exact date or the location of the game until each game is completed. Thank you for your patience.

Reminders

We’ll be in need of a new booster president, treasurer, and other vice president roles for next year. If you’d like to be more involved in the decision making processes that impact the band program, these are great opportunities!

Step One… Check! Congrats to all band students as you brought home the eighth-consecutive “Sweepstakes” rating from UIL last week! Thank you to everyone who made this achievement possible!

Believe it or not, our competitive marching season will be over in about 10 days! November is here!

...and so on we go! BIG day tomorrow as we attend the UIL Area Marching Contest in Heroes Stadium.

UIL Area, tomorrow

All information was sent out a few days ago. I will attach the schedule to this email as well. Students need to GO TO SLEEP as soon as they get home from the game tonight. We will leave the game after halftime tonight. Please begin arriving to school by 5:00am Saturday morning. I’ll unlock the band hall at 4:30am.

There are 32 bands competing in tomorrow’s contest. The top ten from prelims will make finals. The top six in finals will be advance to the UIL State Marching Contest on Monday November 5th and Tuesday November 6th.

PARENTS - We need you in the stands cheering for the band! The stadium will likely be relatively empty - PLEASE sit centered and as high up in the stadium as possible to let the judges know how we feel about our Raider Band! Parking is $5 for all day and entry is $5 for all day.

BOA San Antonio, Friday Nov 2nd and Saturday Nov 3rd

All information regarding our schedule was sent out last week. I will attach the schedule to this email as well.

We’re canceling Monday AM to add Monday PM rehearsal next week as we make a final push to get the final portion of the marching show on the field so it’s contest-ready. Please reference the rehearsal schedule at the end of this email. If you already have previous commitments Monday evening, please honor those other commitments.

Raider Band Weekly Update Oct 22 - Oct 27

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Honestly, I can’t remember a time where I’ve been as impressed with the students I work with as I have been this week. To witness first hand their drive, commitment, and support of one another these past few days, in the midst of dealing with different weather circumstances, has been awesome to see! You already knew this, but you have some awesome kids there at home with you!

We’re off to the races! This weekend we begin our process to put our best foot forward to be competitive in our final marching contests. With the end of the marching season in sight, it also means it’s time to begin planning for next year (yes… already! :-D ).

Booster Executive Board Positions Next Year

Our President and Treasurer positions must be filled by someone new as we go in to the 2019-2020 school year (President is “graduating out” and Treasurer has met the two-year “cap”.) If you’d like to help lead this dynamic team or have accounting experience, we need your help! These positions are required to be filled in order for us to have a booster organization.

The Vice President(s) of Concessions organizes a few training sessions at the beginning of the school year and then helps to make sure items are ready to be sold at different events. The band program depends on the revenue generated from these leaders, and you’ll be able to know that you’re creating a huge positive impact on all students in the band program! This job can be split between two or more people.

If you’re interested in helping us with any of these positions, please contact me for more information. Thank you!

Band Fee and/or San Fran Payment Due Monday

As always, thank you for your support of our program! Please remember that if you’re attending the optional San Fran trip, that your trip will be cancelled if your band and booster fees are not paid in full by mid-November.

UIL Region Marching Evaluation - Tomorrow(?) 10/20

Tomorrow around 10:00am I will receive a text message from the UIL coordinator on whether or not they’re going to have the event tomorrow (depending on weather forecast). If they postpone, the event will be on Monday 10/22. The schedule will remain the same for Monday’s event if this happens. Either way, be looking for an email and other social media alerts shortly after 10am once I hear what is going to happen tomorrow.

This evaluation is the first step in qualifying for the State Marching Contest. We must get a “Division 1” at this contest in order to qualify and attend the UIL Area Marching Contest.

UIL Area Marching Contest - Saturday 10/27

All 6A bands that receive a “Division 1” in our Area will compete in the Area Marching Contest - there are 37 bands in our area, but probably(?) not all of them will get a Division 1. Plan for a very long, all-day event. We will not know the schedule until likely Wednesday 10/24.

The contest is in San Antonio, North East ISD, Heroes Stadium. The contest is prelims-finals format. The top 10 bands from prelims will make finals. Then, for every 5 bands that attend the contest, they will reward 1 band to advance to State. So, if 30 bands are in prelims, the top 6 in finals will advance to State... if there are 29 bands in prelims, the top 5 in finals will advance to State.

Bands of America San Antonio - Friday 11/2 and Saturday 11/3

We’ve received the performance schedule for BOA SA. This is a two-day event. 84 bands are competing, and the top 14 make finals. See attached schedule for more details. I might have to make some minor tweaks to the attached schedule, and will send again next week, but the overall time frame of events is correct.

Raider Band Weekly Update Oct 15 - Oct 20

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Sorry for the delay in sending you this email! Between prepping for the football game and handling many logistics for TMC, I simply forgot. I'm human. :-]

Speaking of TMC - WOW! Great job everyone! Thank you parent and student volunteers for everything you did to provide the best experience possible for everyone as we dealt with weather and all the other logistics that went in to yesterday’s event!

It all was an incredible example of what we're all capable of when we come together and work toward a shared goal. Thank you for representing the Raider Band and the Cedar Ridge Community so well!

I’d be remiss if I didn’t recognize Amy Patterson and our executive booster board parents who have been organizing and planning this event for months now - THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Raider Band Weekly Update Oct 1 - Oct 6

Raider Band Students and Parents,

It’s contest season! We hope to hear “WE ARE - CR” as we first enter the field at 10:30am tomorrow at Kelly Reeves!! Please remember this is a ticketed event and parking is $5.

If it’s raining tomorrow - the call time remains the same. Rehearsal will begin at 6:50am. We will be in communication with BOA regarding their plans for delays, etc. if the weather requires it.

Students, regardless of tomorrow’s outcome, your directors and everyone who has worked with you have been SO IMPRESSED with how far you’ve come and what you’ve been able to accomplish in the midst of rainy weather! No matter what, perform your best and HAVE FUN as you perform! (...isn’t that one of the biggest reasons why we’re in band?)

As we get in to October, there is a lot happening! Please make sure you’re especially aware of the Texas Marching Classic information.

Texas Marching Classic - PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION!!!

Our annual Texas Marching Classic, a marching contest hosted by the Cedar Ridge Band Boosters, is right around the corner. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we made around $40,000 last year on the event. It takes everyone - parents and student volunteers - to make the event run correctly. As of the writing of this email, only 45% of the volunteer positions have been filled!

It’s important to sign up now, as our volunteer planning meetings are set for next week. Choose to come to the meeting that is most convenient for you: Tuesday Oct 2nd from 7-8pm or Thursday Oct 4 from 7-8pm. Both meetings will be identical, you’ll receive all the information you need, and you’ll receive your parking pass for the contest at this meeting.

A poorly-run event runs the risk of bands not wanting to come back next year. From parking to check in to concessions to ticket booth to score tabulations to water stations and more - please sign up and plan to help on Saturday October 13th.

Our band will perform that night as an “Exhibition” band. Provide your own transportation to the venue. Since many of you will want to be there to see us perform, please plan to volunteer as well. Thank you!

Here’s the sign up link, utilize the tabs at the top of the page to see different positions that need filled: https://www.signupgenius.com/tabs/23676DF05A3C9E5C60-2018

Reminder: September Payments Past Due

Band fee payment plan and optional San Fran trip payment plan were due this past Monday. Please remember that if all band/booster fees are not paid in full by mid-November, your San Fran trip reservation will be cancelled. Thank you!

Raider Band Weekly Update Sept 10 - Sept 15

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Thank you for your flexibility at the game last night. We will work to see if there’s another time to celebrate our Seniors at a different football game. With our first contest just three weeks away (!!!), there is much to cover - take a look!

GRADES!!! Eligibility, Etc

The end of the six weeks grading period is Friday September 21st. There are different district rules in regard to which classes (regular/Pre-AP/AP) cause students to become “ineligible” (also known as No Pass No Play). The easiest way to not worry about the ins-and-outs of eligibility is simple - pass your classes! Do your homework and turn it in and attend tutorials! We as directors will start, next week, talking with individual students who are at risk of becoming ineligible.

Woodwind & Brass Pass-Off Feedback

I’ve been working to find a way to efficiently and effectively give students their feedback that we’ve logged as they’ve played their marching band and/or region band pass offs. With the help of the I.T. department here at CRHS, I’ve found a way to email our students their feedback directly to their @student.roundrockisd.org account. You’ll now have a record of how you did, what we heard, etc in .pdf format. We will do our best to make sure we comment about your tone quality in all the feedback we provide.

Meet The Teacher Night, Wednesday 9/12 6-9pm

We’ll be here if you have questions for us but we encourage you to spend the evening with your child’s academic teachers. You’re always welcome to contact us with questions about different band events, etc.

Contest Spot Auditions

Students who are currently “sharing” a marching spot will audition to be the performer at our contests on Thursday September 20th. The audition will entail marching and playing Act 2 and Act 3. All students will go with a director to one of the turf fields for the audition. We will consider the audition result, eligibility, attendance, and pass-off grades before determining the competition performer. Students who are not chosen as the competition performer will still have the opportunity to march at different football games, as long as they as safely able to perform in that position.

Next Week

The rehearsal schedule is slightly modified (see below) to ensure that we abide by the UIL 8 Hour Rule while allotting time for our rehearsal with our show designer who will be in town.

Looking Further Ahead

Tuesday September 18th - 7pm - Booster Meeting - Lecture hall unavailable - Orchestra Hall(?)

Wednesday September 19th - Homecoming Parade (details/schedule TBA)

Friday September 21st - Football vs Leander @ Kelly Reeves

End of 6 Week Grading Period (eligibility check)

Tuesday September 25th - No rehearsal

Wednesday September 26th - Rehearsal 5-8pm with Drill Writer

Thursday September 27th - Rehearsal 6-9pm in Kelly Reeves with Drill Writer (provide your own transportation); great opportunity to rehearse in the contest venue two days before BOA Austin!

Friday September 28th - Football vs Stony Point @ Kelly Reeves

Saturday September 29th - BOA Austin (schedule coming out soon - we’ll be “booked” the whole day)

Weekly Update August 20 - August 25

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Wow! It was great seeing SO MANY people at Parent Preview! What a fun way to end Summer Band 2018! I hope you were all able to get some fun pictures of family members holding instruments and learning to march as well! Big thanks to Mrs. Carrie DeLoach, the booster events coordinator and our other booster parents for all the work with the concession stand as well!

Vision Statements

We’ve been talking about these statements with all of our students in class this week and over summer band, but I wanted to share with all of you, our families, as well. Our band vision statement is “As performing members of the Raider Band, we believe in the pursuit of passionate performance while maintaining an inviting environment for all.” Additionally, our school’s new vision statement is “Live with Integrity, Act with Compassion, Strive for Excellence.” We will continue to talk about what these mean as we move forward through the year together.

Attendance

As we discussed with all the students on Thursday, the way that our ensemble will reach its fullest potential is when the students are present in rehearsal. When students are sick, a parent needs to let us know about their child’s illness. Please send all attendance-related issues to Ms. Velasquez at arminda_velasquez@roundrockisd.org. Thank you!

Band Fee Member Deposit Due Monday

If you're following the payment plan, the next deposit, for $150, is due Monday 8/20. Checks made out to CRHS Band or Cash should be turned in to the safe in the band hall. Credit Card payments are now available as well online at http://crhsraiderband.org/new-products/band-fees-not-booster. As always, thank you for your support of this band program!

Tomorrow = LOTS of stuff happening!!!

  • Mattress Sale 10am-5pm in the Cafeteria! Please help spread the word on social media - that’s the quickest, easiest, most effective way for us to let our community know about this opportunity.

  • Props 8am-2pm in the band hall! Come lend a hand!

  • Band Olympics 9am-3pm at the Track Stadium! This is a student-led event where the different sections compete against each other playing different types of “field games”. Do not park inside the gated area of the track/baseball/concessions area. Thanks!

Booster Position Available

Want to join a dynamic team while helping maintain all of the great things you saw Tuesday night? Then please consider joining our Executive Booster Board! We are still in need of a VP of Concessions, which essentially entails organizing and helping volunteers learn their roles. For more information or if you’d like to help, please contact Barbara Bradfield at parliamentarian@crhsraiderband.org -- thank you!

Pass Offs

All students will be “passing off” their marching music for a director this year. We reviewed all of the details in class on Thursday.

Parent GroupMe

As a reminder from my email last week, the Parent GroupMe will end on Monday 8/20. Please make sure you’ve downloaded any videos or pictures you want to keep. The boosters will transition to the “Remind” app. If you wish to be added, send the message “crraiderbb” to the number “81010” to be enrolled in their reminders.

Weekly Update August 13 - August 17

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Wow! The group just keeps getting better! They’ve come a very long way in a very short amount of time and we’re so proud of their work and effort! I hope you’ve had the chance to see the videos of the “run throughs” that we’ve posted to the Student Share Google Folder https://drive.google.com/open?id=1AKLulrQ2L0g-XB21BgM9SF7a-uls8h2D. You’re also more than welcome to come watch your students - it’s very common to have parents come watch the last 30 minutes of rehearsal. The improvement is apparent and we’re going to keep moving forward together.

Tailgate and Parent Preview, Tuesday August 14th

New This Year - I truly hope you can join us at least for the “Parent Preview” portion of our evening from 7pm-8pm. We’re going to add an element that includes having our parents and/or family members down on the field with the students and have a great time together as your child teaches YOU how to march! The band will also perform everything we’ve learned during summer band and we’re going to celebrate our students who have earned their letter jackets. It’s going to be a great event!

Parent GroupMe

Your Executive Booster Board members and I want to ensure that communication to you be as concise and as accurate as possible. On Monday, August 20th, we’re going to end the use of the Parent GroupMe that was set up by the board several years ago. In its place, the board will switch over either to a Twitter or Remind account (stay tuned for information from the board in that regard). All of that said - if there are pictures or videos that you wish to download from the Parent GroupMe accounts, please make sure to do so before August 20th. Thank you!

Band Picture Day - Wednesday 8/15 2:30pm-5pm

Students will come to school to change in to their uniform and get group and individual pictures taken. Order forms were given to the students yesterday (8/9) to take home. Online orders are also available at https://vando.imagequix.com/L9AQZ93 with keyword CRHS Band.

Returning Students - Please start bringing back your marching shoes and put them in your garment bag in the uniform room. (Freshmen - don’t worry about shoes - we’ll get you covered and/or take pictures in a way that don’t show your feet.)

All Students - You’ll need your black spandex/compression shorts to wear underneath your uniform.

Mattress Sale Fundraiser - Saturday 8/18 10am-5pm

THANK YOU to everyone who came to the parent meeting for the mattress fundraiser last week. We had a great turnout of a little over 70 parents in attendance. Please help us get the word out to make this event a success.

Band Olympics - Saturday 8/18 9am-1pm

This is a student-led event. The students come together for a day of outdoor contests where the different sections compete against each other in order to be crowned champion of Band Olympics. It’s a great social event and all the students are encouraged to attend! Students should have already started hearing details from the student leadership team for specifics regarding that day.

Weekly Update August 6 - August 10

Raider Band Students and Parents,

We’re off to the races and learning drill! What an exciting time as we begin the production of our 2018 contest show! It’s been wonderful having everyone back this week and we had a great time playing through all of our tunes in the PAC on Wednesday!

Thank you to all of the incredible people who have been spending multiple hours each day to fit our students in their marching uniforms, hemming, ironing and donating their time so that our students can look top-notch!

Speaking of people donating their time - our prop team will be back-at-it tomorrow, Saturday 8/3, from 8am-2pm. If you’re able to come by, even just for a little while, we’ll put you to work! Students can earn volunteer hours as well!

NEW THIS YEAR

I’ve talked with our leadership team and 12th grade band members about wearing our show shirt, khaki shorts, black socks, and marching shoes for the first football game at Temple High School on August 31st. They liked the idea and this will be our ‘uniform’ for that game. If you do not own a pair of khaki shorts please purchase some between now and the first game. They need to meet school dress code and be the “tan” khaki color (not blue/brown/white). We will wear our full uniform starting the second game, Senior Night, and we want to look our best for our seniors and pictures for that evening.
