Raider Band Weekly Update Nov 5 - Nov 10

Raider Band Students and Parents,

Sending my weekly email a day early as we’ll be very busy tomorrow as we travel to San Antonio for BOA.

...and away we go! We’re ending our competitive marching season with a “bang” as we have something happening each of the next five days! (Please make sure you wash your show shirt and performance shirt at home on Sunday so you have them for Sunday night and Monday/Tuesday :-] )

The students should already know this, as we’ve been announcing it in their classes, but they are responsible for communicating with their teachers about their expectations for the missed days and making sure their classwork is turned in.

UIL State Marching Contest

By my count, there are 246, “6A” bands in the state of Texas. 41 of them are attending the State Marching Contest. Congrats, everyone, on earning a place to compete among the top 16% of 6A bands in our state! See attached schedule.

Spring Semester Auditions

On Wednesday November 7th, audition material for the spring semester will be made available to woodwind and brass students. Auditions are currently scheduled for Thursday 11/29 and Friday 11/30 during classes.

Raider for a Night and Senior Night on Friday 11/9

We will celebrate our seniors and have a fun evening with our 8th graders at our football game VS Westwood.

We’ll have a short rehearsal and eat dinner with our 8th graders on Thursday 11/8 from 6pm-8pm. We’ll recognize our seniors during halftime at the game after we play for the drill team.

Football Playoffs

The band participates in football playoff games. We will not know the exact date or the location of the game until each game is completed. (In other words, I won’t know if we’re playing on 11/16 or 11/17 until sometime after we play Westwood on 11/9.) I will communicate everything I know as fast as I find out. Thank you for your patience.

Reminders

  1. We’ll be in need of a new booster president, treasurer, and other vice president roles for next year. If you’d like to be more involved in the decision making processes that impact the band program, these are great opportunities!

  2. Please remember that if you’re attending the optional San Fran trip, that your trip will be cancelled if your band and booster fees are not paid in full by mid-November.

  3. All but the final installment of band fees are past due. Thank you for your support of this program! http://crhsraiderband.org/new-products/band-fees-not-booster
