Weekly Update August 6 - August 10

Raider Band Students and Parents,


We’re off to the races and learning drill! What an exciting time as we begin the production of our 2018 contest show! It’s been wonderful having everyone back this week and we had a great time playing through all of our tunes in the PAC on Wednesday!


Thank you to all of the incredible people who have been spending multiple hours each day to fit our students in their marching uniforms, hemming, ironing and donating their time so that our students can look top-notch!


Speaking of people donating their time - our prop team will be back-at-it tomorrow, Saturday 8/3, from 8am-2pm. If you’re able to come by, even just for a little while, we’ll put you to work! Students can earn volunteer hours as well!



I’ve talked with our leadership team and 12th grade band members about wearing our show shirt, khaki shorts, black socks, and marching shoes for the first football game at Temple High School on August 31st. They liked the idea and this will be our ‘uniform’ for that game. If you do not own a pair of khaki shorts please purchase some between now and the first game. They need to meet school dress code and be the “tan” khaki color (not blue/brown/white). We will wear our full uniform starting the second game, Senior Night, and we want to look our best for our seniors and pictures for that evening.




  • Our first group fundraiser will be SnapRaise

  • Flyers with email addresses were due back today! (8/3)

  • We ask that everyone participate in this fundraiser - what makes it great is that you don’t have to sell anything!

  • Student will participate in the fundraiser on Thursday 8/9 during rehearsal hours



  • If you attended the parent meeting, please know the representative misspoke when she said there could be money added to your child’s account for referrals. This is a booster fundraiser. We can not make individual contributions to a student account using a booster fundraiser.

  • Date of event: Saturday August 18th, 10am-5pm, CRHS Cafeteria

  • PLEASE help us push this event on all the social media outlets

Registration Prizes

Thanks again for coming to registration last week! We pulled the winners for the spirit wear drawing and we’ve contacted those individuals directly.


San Francisco Trip

The trip is set! If you expressed interest in being a chaperone - thank you for your interest! I have already contacted the adults that will be joining us as chaperones. We’re looking forward to a great trip!


Tailgate and Parent Preview

  • Tuesday August 14th (not this upcoming Tuesday)

  • Tailgate: 5pm-7pm

  • Parent Preview - 7pm-8pm - come join us at the practice field after the Tailgate as we perform everything we’ve worked on during summer band!


Looking Ahead…

Please make sure you have the appropriate items for game day preparation (buy your own). Water Jugs, Black Spandex/Compression Shorts (this is what you wear under your marching band uniform), and long black socks are needed to be able to participate with the band. Thank you!

Monday 8/6

8am-Noon - Outdoor Rehearsal

Seniors - administration knows to hold your parking spots. Go buy them during lunch

Noon-1pm - Lunch

1pm-4pm - Indoor Rehearsal

4pm-5pm - Break, bring a snack and/or dinner to eat

5pm-7pm - Outdoor Rehearsal


Tuesday 8/7

Freshmen - Raider Renaissance (Freshman Orientation)

  • Freshmen are excused from rehearsal until after Raider Renaissance. Bring a change of clothes for rehearsals later in the day, bring food for dinner/snack before outdoor rehearsal that evening.

Everyone Else - Normal Rehearsal:

8am-Noon - Outdoor Rehearsal

Noon-1pm - Lunch

1pm-4pm - Indoor Rehearsal

4pm-5pm - Break, bring a snack and/or dinner to eat

5pm-7pm - Outdoor Rehearsal

Wind Ensemble and Drumline - Wear something Cedar Ridge (preferably purple) - We will perform in two pep rallies that day (we’ll review schedule together on Monday)
