Raider Band Weekly Update August 27 - August 31

Raider Band Students and Parents,


More Drill! The students have been hard at work learning Act 3 - “Sabre Dance” - drill and music this week. We are now up to set 65 in the show. THANK YOU to everyone involved last Saturday who helped with Band Olympics, Prop Building, and the Mattress Sale!


We’re all excited for our first game next week at Temple! “WE ARREEEEE!!!!  C. R.!!!!”


Tomorrow, Saturday 8/25

  • Marching Rehearsal, Outside, 8am-Noon, Students, please wear a WHITE shirt

  • Get your show shirt after rehearsal if you haven’t already gotten it - parent show shirts available as well!

  • Prop Building, 8am-12pm, come lend a hand!


San Fran Trip Payment Due Monday 8/27

If you’re going on the trip and following the payment plan, the next deposit is due Monday. Please make payments through the travel company webpage, Friendly reminder that all band fees and booster fees must be paid off by November 12th to attend the trip.


Senior Night, Thursday 9/6 vs Cedar Park

Looking ahead - We’ll celebrate our Band Seniors at the game against Cedar Park on Thursday 9/6, during halftime. Since it’s a school night, we will not perform our contest show after the game, in order to get our students home and to bed as soon as possible.


Festival of Bands, Monday October 1st

Friday 8/31 -  Game Day! Away @ Temple (itinerary also attached as pdf)

3:15pm Students Released from Class

3:30pm Outdoor Rehearsal (review halftime performance)

4:15pm Rehearsal Ends

4:20pm Students eat dinner (provided) in cafeteria & change clothes

Uniform = purple show shirt, khaki shorts, black socks, black marching shoes

5:00pm Meet in section block in band hall in score order

5:15pm Load busses (approx. time - depends on buses running their routes)

5:30pm Depart for Wildcat Stadium (approx 50 minute drive)

6:30pm Arrive, park, unload

Gather as a group outside the busses, move in to stands

7:20pm Cedar Ridge School Song performed

7:24pm Football Teams return to field, play fight song

7:30pm Kickoff

9:00pm Halftime (approx), “WE ARE -- C.R.!!!”

10:30pm End of game (approx), load buses, depart

11:30pm Arrive back to CRHS (approx)


Reminders from Previous Email Communication


For our first game, we’ll wear our show shirt, khaki shorts, black socks, and marching shoes on August 31st. If you do not own a pair of khaki shorts please purchase some between now and the first game.


Please make sure you have the appropriate items for game day preparation (buy your own). Water Jugs, Black Spandex/Compression Shorts (this is what you wear under your marching band uniform), and long black socks are needed to be able to participate with the band.
